Kazakhstan parliament consented for transit of Spanish military cargoes and personnel to Afghanistan. The law On ratification of the Agreement between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Spain to ensure transit of military equipment and personnel across the territory of Kazakhstan in relation to participation of Spanish military forces in the effort to stabilize and restore Afghanistan was adopted by the Parliament today, April 5, Tengrinews.kz reports. "The agreement is intended to enhance Kazakhstan's role in support to the international efforts to stabilize and restore Afghanistan," deputy Foreign Minister Kairat Omarov said. Based on the special permit, Spain gets the right to use Kazakhstan's air space via routes priorly approved by Kazakhstan party (at least 24 hours ahead), with provision of all information on transported property and people. Earlier Majilis approved this law and Kairat Omarov, presenting this the draft law, commented the necessity of its adoption by the fact that this is the way Kazakhstan expressed its willingness to render aid to international forces to ensure security in Afghanistan.
