Tengrinews.kz – Deputy Defense Minister Serik Burambaev has explained how Kazakh citizens can legally obtain a military ID without serving a full term in the armed forces.

Speaking in the Majilis, Burambaev noted that Kazakhstan still does not have an alternative civilian service, a system used in many countries for individuals who cannot serve in the military due to religious or moral reasons.

However, he pointed out that there is a lawful mechanism available.

According to the deputy minister, men aged 24 and older who have valid deferrals or health-related grounds may pay to undergo a 40-day training course and receive a military ID afterward.

“The fee is around 240,000 tenge… maybe closer to 300,000,” Burambaev said.

He added that the application process does not require visiting a military enlistment office in person. Citizens can apply online through the Digital Enlistment Office.

“If someone says: ‘I need a military ID, I need to complete service’, they simply join the queue, pay the fee, and when their turn comes, they go through the training,” he explained.
