Kazakhstan General Prosecutor says law-enforcement authorities are poorly prepared to counter terrorism

Kazakhstan General Prosecutor Askhat Daulbayev talked about poor preparedness of Kazakhstan's law-enforcement authorities for countering terrorism, Tengrinews.kz reports. “Inability of the law-enforcement structures to adequately respond to today’s challenges is the system’s shortage. Last years events showed the unpreparedness of the law-enforcement authorities to counter terrorist and extremist threats. We believe that the main reasons are: lack of the proper forecasts done through analytical and operative work of law-enforcement authorities, low level of the professional preparedness and incompliance of equipment to international standards,” Daulbayev said at the meeting of law-enforcement authorities in Astana. Prosecutor General also talked about the necessity to implement single-cell imprisonment of convicts arrested for extremism and terrorism to separate them from other convicts and limit their influence.
