"We are gradually rearming. New Eurocopter E145 helicopters have been purchased, as well as the new military aircrafts Airbus Military. This year we bought two of such planes. The further plan is to buy two aircrafts per year until we have the total of eight of them, thus updating the aviation fleet. We also plan to cooperate with this company and switch to larger aircrafts A400. There will also be some procurement for the front-line aviation that will be modernized until 2020 and until there is sufficient equipment for protection of our country,” the Commander-in-Chief of Kazakhstan’s Air Defense Forces Major General Nurlan Ormanbetov said at the official ceremony. According to him, the Air Defense Forces are equipped with modern aerial and ground weapons: new-generation MiG-31, MiG-29, Su-25 and Su-27 aircrafts capable of destroying air targets both in stratosphere and at small heights, Mu-24 attack helicopters, Mi-8, Mi-17V-5 and Mi-26 military helicopters, as well as C-200, C-125 MK, different modifications of C-75 and C-300 ground-to-air missile systems.
