Transport Ministry to render railway carriage services to 20 million passengers in 2014

Kazakhstan’s Transport Ministry plans to provide railway carriage services to around 20 million passengers in 2014, Newskaz.ru reports. “Plans are there to carry 294 million tons of freight and over 20 million passenger, including thanks to 5 new high-velocity Talgo trains to be launched along the routes of Astana-Kzylorda, Astana-Zashita, Almaty-Zashita, Almaty-Aktobe and Almaty-Tashkent (Uzbekistan)”, the Ministry’s press-release issued today reads. Plans are there to replace 2600 freight railways cars and 150 passenger railway cars with new ones. Besides, the Ministry plans to modernize 38 railway stations across Kazakhstan, complete construction of the new railway station facilities in Astana, repair 800 km of track superstructures, complete construction of a rail making plant in Aktyubinsk oblast.
