One third of alcohol-producing companies will close in Kazakhstan because of the Customs Union, Tengrinews.kz reports citing head of KazAlco Amirzhan Kaliyev. According to his forecast, only 15-16 local alcohol-producing facilities will be operating in Kazakhstan. “First of all, this will happen because of lowering consumption of alcohol in Kazakhstan. Tough competition with Russian producers is the second reason,” he said. According to Kaliyev, there are 52 alcohol-producing companies registered in Kazakhstan. Only 25 or 26 of them are stable.
