Non-primary goods made up ¼ of the overall Kazakhstan’s exports in 2011, Newskaz.ru reports, citing President as saying at his March 2 meeting with all the ambassadors accredited in Kazakhstan. “The exports figure totaled $88 billion, with non-primary goods accounting for $21 billion”, he elaborated. President reminded that the foreign trade turnover in 2011 amounted to $126 billion, 40% up from 2010. “Kazakhstan has never been naïve in terms of geopolitical strategies: we’ve been working to strengthen integration within Eurasia; Kazakhstan alongside with Russia and Belarus has formed a common economic space (…) I want to once again emphasize that is an economic union first of all (…) We are progressing towards the Eurasian economic union”, President said. According to him, the common economic space is an important component of stability in the region, securing a strong competitive edge of the three economies. “Working alongside the reached agreements has proved to be beneficial for all the three economies”, he said.
