President emphasized that the uranium industry is among the key industries for the nation and called to ensure effective control over the industry and to seek mutually beneficial cooperation and joint projects with leading foreign players.
Mr. Nurlan Kapparov presented a renewed strategy of the company’s development. According to him, as of now Kazakhstan is responsible for 40% of uranium produced globally. One of the major tasks for the company to accomplish is to gain the status of a leader in nuclear fuel supplies.
In 2014 Kazakhstan produced 22 829 tons of uranium, up from 22 500 tons in 2013. KazAtomProm (including its shares in adjacent entities) was responsible for 13 156 tons of the amount.
