Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with agricultural leaders in Akmola Region to discuss the state of the sector, Akorda reported.
On September 16, Tokayev visited the region to review the progress of the grain harvest.
“The weather this year has been favorable. The government provides necessary support by ensuring fuel supplies and offering concessional loans in advance. We expect a good grain harvest. As I stated in my Address, it is important to develop deep processing. Agricultural output in 2024 reached 8.25 trillion tenge. This is both a lot and a little. Compared to other states in the region, our agriculture shows good results. But in terms of GDP share, it is only about 6 percent, meaning the sector’s contribution to the overall economy must grow,” the President said during the meeting.
Tokayev stressed that agriculture is a key national asset.
“An export potential of 12 million tons of grain is a solid figure. Our grain is already purchased in Europe. As I mentioned in my Address, for the first time a shipment — about 15,000 tons — was sent to Vietnam,” he noted.
The President also announced that the second Agroforum will be held in Astana this November, focusing on the development of the sector and government support for agribusiness.
Officials reported that crop areas in Akmola Region expanded by 300,000 hectares this year, reaching 5.5 million hectares. Forecasts indicate the grain harvest will exceed seven million tons, while oilseeds will bring in over 650,000 tons.

As of today, 3.6 million tons of grain have been harvested with an average yield of 15.4 centners per hectare, with officials noting high grain quality.
