Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigol Vashadze met with representatives of legislative and executive authorities of Egypt, RIA Novosti reports. "The meeting with the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economy covered several promising directions of cooperation between Georgia and Egypt in economic sector. This is first of all the use of the transit capabilities of Georgia," Vashadze said. According to Egyptian agency MENA, the main subject of the negotiations in Egyptian capital was the use of Georgian port Poti as the main transit hub for delivery of Kazakhstan grain to Egypt. Earlier Director General of Georgian Railroad Irakliy Ezugbaya said that the Georgian party was ready to provide for transit of Kazakhstan grain to Egypt. Now Tge transit goes along a different route. Kazakhstan is one of the main players at the world's grain market and one of the major grain suppliers to Egypt. Most of Kazakhstan's export operations are made by sea via Russian and Ukrainian seaports.
