There could be another delay in development of giant Kashagan oilfield, Minister of Oil and Gas Sauat Mynbayev said when speaking at the plenary session of the Senate today, Bnews.kz reports.
“Now the task is to complete the 1st stage of the project. As far as the 2nd stage is concerned, we haven’t reached any agreement. Draft project of the 2nd stage is still work in progress”, Mr. Mynbayev said.
The Minister reminded that back in 2008 an agreement was signed for the 1st stage to be over by late 2012.
“We are expecting the concept of the 2nd stage will be available in December”, he added.
“If its terms and conditions are advantageous for Kazakhstan – if the 2nd stage serves the interests of the national economy – we will decide on further works”, he said.
