Almaty looking forward to new gas-filling stations
KazTransGas and British Gas have successfully completed a pilot project to construct and launch the first gas-filling station in Almaty. The filling station is located in a bus depot. The plan is to create a network of gas-filling stations. This will help gradually increase the number cars running on gas and improve the cities environment. The network will be constructed through a public-private partnership, this is important for Almaty social entrepreneurs corporation, said Almaty Akim (Mayor) Akhmetzhan Yessimov at an ecological seminar called Transport in Eco-Friendly Cities, Tengrinews.kz reports. The two-day seminar is co-organized by the U.S. Energy Department.The city is going to provide the companies that cooperate with the Almaty social entrepreneurs corporation with land to build the gas-filling stations on, the Mayor said.Light railroad transportation is another public-private partnership project to be implemented soon.EBRD’s Sandugash Beisenbekova said that the city’s electric transport network will be expanded further. EBRD has expended a loan to purchase 200 modern trolleys.
