10th anniversary of Kazakhstan ostriches

Ostrich breeding started in Kazakhstan ten years ago, Megapolis writes.The first lot of African ostriches was brought into country from Europe in 2001. Businessmen brought 440 ostriches. Kazakhstan became the first country in Central Asia to import these birds. Currently Kazakh scientists and poultry breeders are working on breeding a new species of ostriches with better characteristics. The birds have gotten used to our climate in ten years. The ostriches sturdily survive temperatures of as low as -30 degrees Centigrade, drink local skim milk and eat cottage cheese.
