Kazakhstan became the first country in Central Asia to import these birds. Currently Kazakh scientists and poultry breeders are working on breeding a new species of ostriches with better characteristics. The birds have gotten used to our climate in ten years. The ostriches sturdily survive temperatures of as low as -30 degrees Centigrade, drink local skim milk and eat cottage cheese.
