Deputy Kossarev has called the government to seriously deal with Kazakhstan's power, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the Member of the Majilis as saying at the lower chamber's meeting.

"There are no doubts that we need to deal with power very seriously and carefully. Look at the paradoxes we have. We have the capacities of around 20 thousand megawatt, only 14 thousand is produced, while we consume 12-13 thousand. This is a very serious problem. We are talking about increasing the capacities, whereas the capacities we have are not fully loaded. I would like to emphasized that we need to bring the networks to order. There is at least some order among the power energy producers, but no order in the networks. Look at the awkward implementation of day-night and summer-winter rates, for example," Vladislav Kossarev told the deputies referring to the recent program called to separate electricity rates and calculate them depending on time and season of power consumption.

Today, March 28, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Bakytzhan Sagintaev presented a draft Law On amendments to several legislative acts of Kazakhstan on energy, investment activities of natural monopolies and regulated market participants to the Majilis deputies.

The draft law is called to increase the responsibility of energy-producing organizations, natural monopolies and participants of regulated market for performance of investment obligations, increase the quality of rendered services, step up transparency of investment activities of energy-producing organizations, as well as provide of Kazakhstan economy's needs in power energy. The deputies approved this draft law in the first reading.
