Tengrinews.kz – Mazhilis Deputy Askhat Aimagambetov spoke about the main changes contained in the draft of the new Tax Code. He wrote about them in his Telegram channel.
According to the Mazhilis member, the main goal of the proposed changes is to support the spheres of education, science, culture, sports and healthcare, as well as to prevent significant price increases in these areas.
The main proposed changes:
- Exempt organizations in the sphere of culture, historical heritage and social services from corporate income tax (CIT);
- Reduce CIT to 5% for education, science, sports and healthcare;
- Exempt treatment of serious diseases (oncology, diabetes, mental disorders and others) from VAT, and for other medical services - leave the zero rate or reduce it to 5%;
- Exempt medicines for the treatment of these diseases from VAT, and for others keep 0% or reduce it to 5%;
- Exempt domestic books and animation products from VAT;
- Introduce tax breaks on royalties for literary, artistic and scientific works.
It is also proposed:
- not to impose VAT on financial services (transfers, pension funds, cards) to curb price growth;
- to increase taxes for bookmakers and casinos;
- to introduce excise taxes on products with trans fats;
- to cancel unjustified tax breaks;
- to reduce the tax on summer cottages.
"These changes are aimed at improving tax policy in accordance with the principle of social justice. Differentiated approach. The proposed amendments continue to be discussed at meetings of the working group. Final decisions have not yet been made," Aimagambetov added.
Recall: in early February, the government discussed the upcoming innovation on VAT and reported on the decision made on social tax and employer pension contributions.
