Tengrinews.kz – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the CIS Heads of State Council meeting in Dushanbe.
The President proposed the creation of a regional center for forecasting extreme climate and man-made events. He emphasized that digitalization and artificial intelligence are key factors for sustainable development and national competitiveness, and Kazakhstan is rapidly advancing its digital agenda, covering public administration, social services, and citizens’ everyday lives.
Tokayev highlighted the establishment of the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, work on the Digital Code, and the development of the conceptual document “Digital Kazakhstan”, which will unify all initiatives and projects into a single national strategy and ecosystem. He also confirmed that Kazakhstan is open to cooperation with all CIS countries in this field.
He further noted that a university specializing in artificial intelligence has recently been established in the country. Additionally, a national program has been successfully launched, covering over 400,000 students and creating conditions for the formation of research teams and DeepTech startups. Tokayev proposed scaling up this project and expressed Kazakhstan’s readiness to cooperate with Commonwealth countries to train a new generation of specialists capable of competing in the global market.
The President identified ecological threats, natural disasters, and technological catastrophes as serious risks to sustainable progress in CIS countries. Considering these challenges, he stressed the importance of effective tools for early detection and prevention of such crises.
“We propose joining our efforts by creating a regional center for forecasting extreme climate and man-made events. The rapid drying of the Caspian Sea is of particular concern. Essentially, this is no longer a regional but a global issue. Therefore, we suggest involving all interested countries and international organizations in the intergovernmental program for the preservation of Caspian water resources, developed on our initiative,” Tokayev emphasized.
Earlier, during the “Central Asia – Russia” summit in Dushanbe, Tokayev stressed the importance of implementing an intergovernmental program for the preservation of Caspian water resources.
