According to the chairman of Kazakhstan National Bank Gregory Marchenko, the retirement age should be leveled for men and women in Kazakhstan if for no other reason than because the women of the older generation are more qualified and experienced, KTK TV channel reports. According to the TV-channel, the rush around the idea of raising the retirement age started several months ago. Officials suggested to move women’s retirement age from 58 to 63. This initiative caused an outrage among Kazakhstan citizens. However, according to Marchenko, the women working at the National Bank fully support him. “53 percent of the managerial positions are held by women in the National Bank. 67 percent of our other staff is made of women. Women are paid equal wages for equal work. "There are twice as many toilets for women as there are for men in the National Bank's quarters. "We follow and respect the gender equality principles in our bank. And for some reason the women in the National Bank support the necessity of leveling the retirement age,” Marchenko said.
