Tengrinews.kz – The President of Kazakhstan has signed a law introducing amendments to several legislative acts concerning telecommunications, public procurement, transport, and postal services, according to Akorda.

The new legislation expands the capabilities of postal operators, allowing them to:

  • Deliver mail to third parties using PIN code verification.
  • Transport and store pharmaceuticals and medical products in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Regulate the placement of parcel lockers (postomats) and eliminate the concept of traditional mailboxes.

Additionally, the law introduces a "social wallet", which aims to prevent misuse of social assistance funds and ensure better tracking of financial aid distribution.

The amendments also extend the suspension of restrictions on hiring foreign nationals for key maritime positions, such as captains, chief officers, and chief engineers, due to staff shortages in the sector.

The full text of the law will be published in official print media.
