Tengrinews.kz – Electricity prices in Kazakhstan will increase from August 1, following a new directive signed by the acting Minister of Energy on July 29.
The order, titled “On the approval of ceiling tariffs for electric energy,” sets new maximum rates for several energy producers across the country.

Additionally, a fixed tariff of 44.02 tenge per kWh has been introduced for the 63rd group of power-generating entities.
This increase comes amid ongoing government efforts to reform Kazakhstan’s utility pricing system. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov previously confirmed that tariff adjustments will continue, emphasizing the need to gradually move toward market-based pricing.
According to the Prime Minister, the reforms aim to modernize the country's aging utility infrastructure — a priority following major system failures in cities like Ekibastuz and Ridder during the 2022–2023 winters. He also noted that future rate hikes would be carefully calibrated to minimize inflationary impact.
