Tengrinews.kz – A store in the Shortandy district of Akmolinsk region was fined for displaying prices in rubles.

The Ministry of Trade and Integration's press service provided the details, stating that the store violated the law by indicating prices in a foreign currency. Under Kazakh law, prices must be listed exclusively in tenge.

“The store in the Shortandy district was found to be listing prices in rubles, which violates the law requiring prices to be displayed only in tenge. The entrepreneur was fined for this violation,” the ministry said.

Additionally, food markets in the Akmolinsk region were found to have excessive markups on socially significant products. The regional Department of Trade and Consumer Protection conducted the checks.

“Entrepreneur Yuldashev was selling carrots with a 33.3% markup, significantly above the legal limit. Similar violations were found with entrepreneur Gulyayeva T.M. at the ‘Khutorok’ store, where buckwheat was sold with a 27% markup; with entrepreneur Zhanalinov at the ‘Produkty’ store, where cabbage was sold with a 72.7% markup; and with entrepreneur Mirmakhmud, who was selling onions with a 60% markup,” the department reported.

Each case led to administrative penalties under Article 204 of the Administrative Offenses Code, with fines imposed.

According to Erlan Aubakirov, head of the Department of Trade and Consumer Protection in Akmolinsk region, specialists conducted 21 product inspections, and 17 cases of labeling violations were identified. Fines totaling over 1 million tenge were imposed on the entrepreneurs.

In 2025, 216 entrepreneurs in Akmolinsk region were held administratively accountable: 99 received warnings, while 117 were fined a total of over 2.2 million tenge. Identified violations included excessive markups on essential goods, the display of prices in foreign currency, the absence of consumer rights corners, and delayed responses to customer complaints.
