Tengrinews.kz – The National Security Committee of Kazakhstan (KNB) has been granted certain functions and powers previously held by the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development. The corresponding decree was signed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
What changes
“Transfer to the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan the functions and powers of the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan related to state control in the field of informatization, specifically in terms of information security of critical information and communication infrastructure facilities,” the presidential decree states.
Under the document, the NSC becomes the legal successor to the rights and obligations of the AI Ministry with regard to the transferred functions.
The government, together with the NSC, has been instructed to prepare the necessary legislative amendments and other measures required to implement the decree.
The NSC must also submit to the President a draft of amendments to the regulation governing the National Security Committee.
Oversight of the decree’s implementation has been assigned to the Presidential Administration.
The document entered into force on the day of signing — December 25.
