Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan intends to join the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention, according to the Anti-Corruption Agency.

It is stated that a delegation from the Anti-Corruption Agency, headed by Askhat Zhumagali, participated in a meeting of the OECD working group on integrity and anti-corruption.

The event discussed issues of integrity in both the public and private sectors, conflicts of interest, and new tools for combating corruption. Kazakhstan also presented its efforts to implement anti-corruption measures, digital solutions, and asset recovery.

"It is important to note that Kazakhstan intends to join the OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions," the statement said.

The Anti-Corruption Agency noted that the convention would enhance cooperation on implementing integrity principles within government and society, providing legal assistance, extraditing criminals, and recovering illicit assets, while creating a foundation for effective collaboration with law enforcement agencies in foreign countries.

The Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials is an international agreement aimed at countering corruption in global business operations. Its goal is to prevent and punish bribery in international commercial transactions. The convention requires participating countries to enact laws prohibiting bribery of foreign public officials in business dealings and includes a system for monitoring compliance with these obligations.
