Kazakhstan government approved state energy saving plan

Kazakhstan government approved the energy saving plan that will help save 200 billion tenge ($1.4 billion) a year, Tengrinews.kz reports.

"Implementation of the package solution will provide a 10 percent decrease of energy intensity of the GDP by annually saving 16 billion kW/hour, 11 million kcal of heat energy, 7 million tons of coal and around 200 billion tenge money-wise,” Vice-Minister of Industry and New Technologies Kanysh Tuleushin said.

The plan on energy efficiency in Kazakhstan is mainly focused on decreasing energy consumption by industries. Housing, utilities and public sector decrease should follow.

One of the aspects of the plan includes awareness campaigning. The government is setting up the task of “form a different attitude and new approach to rational use and wise consumption of energy resources”.
