US leases land in Kazakhstan: what it looks like

Tengrinews.kz - Our correspondent visited the land in Almaty that is planned to be leased to the US.

According to the draft agreement, the government of Kazakhstan will lease a land plot of 70 593 square meters to the US. The land plot is located in the Gorny Gigant microdistrict (the square of Zhamakayev Street, Al-Farabi Avenue, Seifullin Avenue and Aldar Kose Street).

It is currently a vacant lot used to dump snow and soil from roads.

Part of the land plot is fenced with a metal fence.

There is a small football field on the eastern part of the plot. Its fate in the event of the construction of the consulate building is still unknown.

According to the previously published draft agreement, the amount of rent for the land plot for the initial 49-year lease term and for all subsequent 49-year renewal periods (without limiting the total duration) is $25 301 016 and will be paid in a single payment within 30 calendar days from the date of entry into force of the agreement.

Earlier, it became known that US government will lease land from Kazakhstan. The Mazhilis deputies have accepted the corresponding bill for work.

The initiative involves ratification of an agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and the United States of America, according to which the American side will be able to lease a plot of land in Almaty for the construction of a consular office building.
