Yermukhamet Yertysbayev thinks that the Senate's decision to dismiss the draft law to send troops to Afghanistan contradicts the general directions of Kazakhstan's current policies. In his interview to Tengrinews.kz Kazakhstan President's adviser for political issues noted that Kazakhstan is one of the partners of the United States and renders an effective support in the fight against terrorism. “Kazakhstan troops have been to Iraq and effectively performed their duties as allies, disarming several millions of mines and saving lives of American and other militarymen. Kazakhstan is currently rendering huge support to the United States in countering terrorism by providing the right of passage through its airspace and railroads. Its role is appreciated by the global community. For me personally the Senate's decision is absolutely incomprehensible,” Yertysbayev said. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that Kazakhstan Senate dismissed the draft law to send troops to Afghanistan. According to Mukhtar Altynbayev, the experts arriving with peacemaking mission could have been pulled into military actions anyway.
