Tengrinews.kz – The Cybercrime Counteraction Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has warned Kazakhstan citizens about the risks associated with offers of “high-paying jobs” abroad that are spread online.
Most often, such ads are posted in Telegram channels, WhatsApp groups and on various online platforms. They promise high salaries, paid flights and accommodation, as well as simple work that doesn’t require experience or knowledge of the language.
However, after arriving abroad, people may face serious problems. The main risks include confiscation of passports and other documents, restriction of freedom of movement and coercion to participate in online fraud schemes.
There is also a risk of non-payment of wages, extortion of money for “release” or return home, as well as psychological pressure and threats.
Precautionary measures
Police advise arranging employment abroad only through licensed agencies and carefully checking the employer and contract terms.
In addition, citizens are recommended not to hand over their documents and personal data to third parties, and to inform relatives in advance about their travel route and place of stay.
If suspicious offers are received or there are signs of fraud, it is necessary to immediately contact law enforcement agencies.
