Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstanis have long been waiting for good news about new trains between Astana and Karaganda. Will a high-speed electric train be introduced on this route anytime soon? Tengrinews.kz asked the press service of JSC "Passenger Transportation" for an answer.
A reader reached out to our editorial team, asking whether a high-speed electric train will be launched between the two cities.
"It would be great if the train could cover this distance in just two hours. Is such an option expected in the near future?" she inquired.
The company noted that the Astana–Karaganda route is one of its priority directions.
"For passengers' convenience, two electric trains currently operate on this route: No. 7556 and No. 6858, running between Astana and Karaganda. The travel time is 3 hours and 55 minutes. Reducing the journey to 2 hours is not planned in the near future," the company stated.
Thus, a high-speed alternative on this route is not expected anytime soon.
