Dzhumageldiev was found guilty of leading an organized crime group, banditry, organizing mass riots, kidnapping, and unlawful imprisonment. The court sentenced him to 20 years in prison.
Earlier, leaked footage of the closed trial surfaced on YouTube, prompting a response from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
In February 2024, authorities arrested members of Wild Arman’s criminal group in Almaty and Shymkent.
In September 2023, investigators referred the case of Dzhumageldiev and Almaty Maslikhat deputy Kairat Kudaibergen to court. They were accused of organizing and participating in mass riots during the January 2022 events in Almaty. Alongside them, 40 other individuals stood trial.
Former Almaty Maslikhat deputy Kudaibergen was arrested on April 22, 2022, and has remained in custody since. Wild Arman was detained three months earlier, on January 7.
Investigators determined that Kudaibergen and Dzhumageldiev gathered people at Almaty’s "Kazakhstan" hotel.
According to the prosecution, Kudaibergen urged people to unite around Dzhumageldiev, support him, and present unified demands to the authorities. He allegedly divided participants into groups of ten and instructed them to wear white armbands as a distinguishing mark.
