Women-only carriages: what you need to know
Tickets for these carriages are available exclusively for women. Service in these carriages is also provided only by female staff. However, boys up to the age of seven inclusive are allowed to travel in them.
Tickets can be purchased in several ways. For example, at train station ticket offices, you just need to inform the cashier in advance that you want a seat in a women-only carriage. Online booking is also available on the company’s website. When booking online, look for the label "ЖН" — it indicates that the seat is in a women-only carriage.
Ticket sales open 45 days prior to departure, allowing passengers to plan their trips well in advance.
Will more women-only carriages be added?
This question was addressed to the press service of Passenger Transportation.
“No new women-only carriages are planned for this year. However, plans may change if there is demand for new routes in other directions,” the company stated.
Thus, as of now, women-only carriages operate on 12 routes. In the future, the number of such routes may increase — depending on passenger demand and feedback.
