Tengrinews.kz — Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin named the time frame when the government will determine the value added tax (VAT) rate.
"There are approximate dates, around February 15-20, I think this is the deadline. We need to go to Parliament, since we have a bill there," the Deputy Prime Minister said at a briefing in the government.
According to Zhumangarin, the government has not yet decided on the new VAT rate.
"The media is saying that a 20% VAT rate is proposed. I want to say right away that a 20% VAT rate is the most common in the world. We in the government have not yet decided on the rate, I'll tell you honestly. There is no need to say that the government has made a final decision on the rate. We are going to raise VAT. But the rate by which we will raise it is currently being discussed," he explained.
Earlier, at an extended government meeting, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov stated that it is necessary to raise the VAT rate in Kazakhstan. The Head of State supported the decision on reforms.
