What the weather will be like in Kazakhstan on January 5: forecast

Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet forecasters have issued the weather forecast for Kazakhstan for Monday, 5 January. On that day, storm warnings have been announced for almost all regions of the country.

At night in the north, east and south of Abai Region snow, blizzard and ice glaze are expected. Similar weather is forecast during the day in the south and central parts of the region. At night and in the morning in the east and south of the region fog is also possible. The wind will be south-westerly and southerly; in the west, north and centre of the region gusts will reach 15–20 metres per second, and in Zharma District up to 23 metres per second. In Semey, snow, blizzard and ice glaze are expected at night and in the morning.

At night in the west and north of Akmola Region snow and blizzard are expected; in the south and east there will be light snow and blowing snow. Light snow with blowing snow is also possible during the day in the north, south and east of the region. In the west, south and east, forecasters predict fog. The wind will be south-westerly; at night in the west and north of the region it will reach 15–20 metres per second, and it will not abate during the day. In Kokshetau, a south-westerly wind with gusts of 15–20 metres per second is expected in the morning and during the day.

At night in the north and north-west of Aktobe Region forecasters predict snow, ice glaze and blowing snow. During the day in the west, north and north-east of the region there will be rain and snow, ice glaze and blizzard. In the west, east and south of the region fog is also possible. The wind will be southerly; during the day in the west and north of the region gusts will be 15–20 metres per second. In Aktobe, snow and ice glaze are expected at night; during the day there will be rain with snow, ice glaze and blizzard. The wind will be southerly, with daytime gusts of 15–18 metres per second.

From 5 to 7 January in the south and in the mountainous areas of Almaty Region fog is expected at times. The wind will be south-easterly, shifting to north-westerly; in the west and east of the region gusts will reach 15–20 metres per second. In Konaev, fog is possible at times at night. On 6 January a south-easterly wind will blow in the region, with gusts occasionally reaching 15–20 metres per second.

In the west, north and south of Atyrau Region fog and ice glaze are expected. The wind will be south-westerly; during the day in the north and east of the region gusts will reach 15–20 metres per second. In Atyrau, fog is possible at times.

At night in the north, east and south of East Kazakhstan Region snow, blizzard and ice glaze are possible. During the day, snow, blizzard and ice glaze are also forecast across the region. At night and in the morning in the north of the region it will be foggy. The wind will be south-westerly; in the north and east of the region gusts will reach 15–20 metres per second. In Ust-Kamenogorsk snow and blizzard with ice glaze are expected.

At night in the mountainous areas of Zhambyl Region snow, blowing snow and ice glaze are expected. In the north, south and mountainous areas of the region fog is possible. The wind will be north-easterly; in the mountainous areas of the region it will reach 15–20 metres per second. In Taraz, fog is expected at times.

In the east, north, centre and mountainous areas of Zhetysu Region ice glaze and fog are expected. The wind will be south-easterly; in the east of the region gusts will reach 15–20 metres per second. In Taldykorgan, fog is possible at times.

At night in the west of West Kazakhstan Region rain with snow, blizzard and ice glaze are expected. Similar weather is forecast in the region during the day. In the west, north and south of the region fog is possible. The wind will be southerly and south-westerly; at night in the north and east of the region it will reach 15–20 metres per second, and strong winds are also expected during the day. In Uralsk, rain with snow, blizzard, ice glaze and fog are possible during the day. The wind will be southerly and south-westerly, with daytime gusts of 15–20 metres per second.

At night in the west, north and east of Karaganda Region snow and blowing snow are possible; during the day in the west of the region light snow and blowing snow are also expected. In the north, east and southern part of the region there will be fog and ice glaze. The wind will be south-westerly; during the day in the north and east of the region gusts will reach 15–20 metres per second. In Karaganda, fog is expected at times.

At night in the west and north of Kostanay Region snow and blizzard are expected; during the day ice glaze will be added. In the west, north and south of the region there will be fog. The wind will be south-westerly; at night in the west and north of the region it will reach 15–20 metres per second, and gusts will not abate during the day. In Kostanay, snow, blizzard and fog are forecast in the morning and during the day. The south-westerly wind will gust to 15–20 metres per second during the day.

In the east and centre of Kyzylorda Region and in the city of Kyzylorda fog and ice glaze are expected.

In the west, north and centre of Mangystau Region fog is possible. The wind will be south-easterly; in the west of the region gusts will reach 15–20 metres per second.

At night in Pavlodar Region snow and blowing snow are expected; during the day in the east of the region light snow and blowing snow are forecast. The wind will be south-westerly; in the west and south of the region it will reach 15–20 metres per second. In Pavlodar, snow and blowing snow are expected at night.

At night in the west of North Kazakhstan Region snow and blizzard are possible. Similar weather is expected during the day in the north and east of the region. In the west, forecasters predict fog. The wind will be south-westerly; at night in the west and south of the region gusts will reach 15–20 metres per second, and strong gusts are also expected during the day. In Petropavlovsk, snow with blizzard is forecast during the day. The south-westerly wind will gust to 15–20 metres per second.

In the north, west, south and mountainous areas of Turkestan Region fog is expected. The wind will be north-easterly; on the mountain passes it will reach 15–20 metres per second. In Turkestan, fog is forecast at times.

At night in the east of Ulytau Region light snow with blowing snow and ice glaze are possible. In the north, south and centre of the region fog is expected. In Zhezkazgan, fog is expected at times.

In Shymkent, forecasters predict fog.

In Almaty, fog is possible at times at night and in the morning from 5 to 7 January.

In Astana, occasional light snow and blowing snow are expected. The wind will be south-westerly; in the morning and during the day gusts will reach 15–20 metres per second.
