According to the head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, several memorable dates will be celebrated in the new 2025.
- 225 years since the birth of Archbishop Sofonii (Sokolsky), the first archpastor of the Turkestan Diocese, "the apostle of the Great Steppe."
- 70 years since the repose of the Hieromartyr Nicholas (Mogilevsky), Metropolitan of Almaty and Kazakhstan.
- 25 years since the discovery of the holy relics of Metropolitan Nicholas (Mogilevsky).
- 50 years since the repose of Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov), a zealous ascetic of piety.
"As part of the preparations for the celebration of these significant anniversaries, work is underway to establish a museum at the historical site where Metropolitan Nicholas (Mogilevsky) and Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov) worked and lived. This building, which housed the diocesan administration during the Soviet era, is located near the Iver-Serafimovsky Monastery. The museum will not only serve as a monument to their lives and work but also become an important research center for the spiritual heritage of the righteous archpastors," said the head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan.
He added that a special event for the peoples of Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, and other countries of the near abroad will be the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Victory.
Christmas is one of the main Christian holidays, established in honor of the birth in the flesh of Jesus Christ from the Virgin Mary. In Orthodoxy, it is one of the twelve great feasts of the Lord and is preceded by a 40-day Nativity Fast.
