What July 2026 will be like in Kazakhstan - weather forecast

Tengrinews.kz — Kazhydromet meteorologists have released a preliminary weather forecast for July 2026. According to forecasters, air temperatures across most of Kazakhstan are expected to remain near the climatic norm, though several regions will experience a hotter month than usual.

Where the heat is expected

According to the forecast, average monthly temperatures above the norm are expected in the Turkistan, Zhambyl, and Almaty regions, the Zhetysu region, most of the Kyzylorda region, as well as in certain districts of the Ulytau, Karaganda, Abai, and East Kazakhstan regions.

Expected deviations of average monthly air temperatures from the norm in July 2026

Nationwide, average temperatures will range from +21 to +29 degrees Celsius. In parts of the south and southwest, monthly averages may reach +30 to +31 degrees. In the north, the far east, and the southeast of Kazakhstan, temperatures are expected to range from +15 to +20 degrees.

Rainfall distribution: wetter and drier areas

Precipitation levels in most regions are projected to be near the norm. Higher-than-average rainfall is expected in the North Kazakhstan region, most of the Kostanay region, and parts of the West Kazakhstan, Aktobe, Pavlodar, and Akmola regions.

Below-average precipitation is forecast for the Turkistan and Zhambyl regions, and most of the Kyzylorda region. Moisture deficits are also expected in parts of the Ulytau, Karaganda, Abai, Almaty, and Zhetysu regions.

Forecast for Astana and Almaty

In Astana average July temperatures are expected to remain near the climatic norm at +21.2 degrees Celsius. The hottest days are forecast for the second decade of the month, when temperatures could rise to +33...+38 degrees. Throughout July, the capital can expect short-term rains, thunderstorms, wind gusts of 15-20 meters per second, and occasional hail and squalls.

In Almaty July is expected to be significantly warmer than usual. The average monthly temperature is projected to be 2 degrees above the norm, reaching approximately +26.4 degrees. According to meteorologists, the second and third decades of the month could see extreme heat in the city, with temperatures hitting +39...+44 degrees. Short-term rains and thunderstorms are also expected throughout the month.
