Official police statement
Murat Zhumabayev, head of Almaty’s Department for Countering Drug Crimes, noted that this is the third such case this year.
“This is already the third time this year we’ve detained groups pretending to be police officers. These kinds of incidents seriously undermine public trust, which is why we take strict action. Real police officers operate strictly within the law. I urge the residents of Almaty: if you have any doubts about someone claiming to be a police officer, immediately call 102,” he emphasized.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to uncover all the details of the suspects’ illegal activities.
