Tengrinews.kz - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan, according to Akorda.

At the beginning of the meeting, Tokayev congratulated King Abdullah II on the silver jubilee of his reign, wishing him continued success in implementing initiatives aimed at ensuring sustainable growth, prosperity for the Jordanian people, and enhancing the country’s international standing.

Tokayev expressed gratitude to the Jordanian leader for his efforts in strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

He noted that Jordan is respected by the international community for its steadfast commitment to peace and stability.

"The purpose of my visit is to give a new impetus to our relations, friendship, and trade and economic ties. I believe we share common views and assessments of global developments. At the same time, we are very interested in strengthening political-level ties. We have certain ideas. I am confident that in the near future, we will be able to reach concrete agreements and achieve very good results. We are ready to work hard within the framework of our cooperation. We consider Jordan a friendly state. We have much in common," Tokayev stated.

He emphasized that the joint statement and agreements to be signed during this visit demonstrate the shared desire to enhance Kazakh-Jordanian cooperation across the entire bilateral and multilateral agenda.

King Abdullah II noted that Tokayev’s visit opens up broad opportunities for further expanding bilateral political, trade, economic, and investment cooperation.

"I am pleased to welcome you and your distinguished delegation to Jordan. It is gratifying that today presents good opportunities to activate economic ties and engage the private sector, which is, of course, of utmost importance," the Jordanian monarch said.

During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for developing contacts in key sectors such as trade, investment, industry, agriculture, transport and logistics, tourism, energy, digitalization, and pharmaceuticals.

Special attention was given to expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. Currently, around 300 Jordanian citizens are studying at medical universities in Kazakhstan.

Tokayev and King Abdullah II also exchanged views on pressing issues of international and regional security.

President Tokayev invited the King of Jordan to visit Kazakhstan.

Earlier, Tokayev described Jordan as a reliable partner of Kazakhstan in the Middle East and the Arab world.

Jordan is an Arab country located on the eastern bank of the Jordan River, known for its ancient landmarks and nature reserves. It shares borders with Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Israel, and the Palestinian territories.
