Tengrinews.kz - A group of Italian tourists, accompanied by a local guide, spotted a fox while touring the Altyn-Emel National Park. The rare encounter was captured on video.
The footage was taken by Natalia, the guide accompanying the group. She has worked in the tourism industry for eight years and shared that this was the first time she had seen a fox in this area during that time.
According to her, the surprise encounter left a strong impression on the tourists from Italy — they were thrilled. Normally, visitors to Altyn-Emel can spot gazelles, kulans, or hares, but seeing a fox is unusual, especially during the day and from such a close distance.
Interestingly, it was the poor weather conditions that helped make the sighting possible. The group had to slow down due to puddles and muddy roads — and that’s when they noticed the movement.
“We got lucky. We had just reached the main road and couldn’t drive fast because of the puddles. Then we saw something move. We stopped and started watching. The tourists loved it. They were hoping to see wild animals in the park, but usually you only get to see gazelles, kulans, or hares. And then — a fox! So cool! She was searching for food after the rain, sniffing around the burrows,” the guide shared.
But the adventure didn’t end there — getting out of the area turned into quite a challenge.
Thankfully, the group made it out safely despite the serious road conditions. After the heavy rain, the roads were badly washed out, turning into thick mud in some areas. Vehicles were sinking into the muck, and the group had to move slowly to avoid getting stuck completely.
Earlier, around 100 Turkmenian kulans were captured on video in Kazakhstan’s Kyzylorda region.
