Tengrinews.kz - The US government will lease land from Kazakhstan. The Mazhilis deputies have accepted the corresponding bill for work.
The initiative involves ratification of an agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and the United States of America, according to which the American side will be able to lease a plot of land in Almaty for the construction of a consular office building.
According to deputy Aigul Kuspan, the agreement in question was signed in New York last year on September 27.
"The purpose of the agreement is to lease a land plot of more than 70 thousand square meters to the US government for a period of 49 years for the construction and operation of the US consular office in Almaty. The terms of the agreement define the procedure and conditions for the provision of the land plot. The Committee is ready to take the bill into work and prepare a conclusion on it. Please support it," Kuspan said at a plenary session of the Mazhilis.
The Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security will prepare a conclusion on the bill. The document will be considered at the next sessions of the chamber.
In September 2024, the media published a draft agreement between Kazakhstan and the United States, according to which the latter will lease a land plot in Almaty with an area of more than 70 thousand square meters. The lease term is 49 years.
