US dollar nears 540 tenge again

Tengrinews.kz - The exchange rate of the US dollar during trading in Kazakhstan on August 7.

According to the results of the daytime trading session on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), the average weighted exchange rate of the dollar was 539.38 tenge, rising by 2.68 tenge. For reference, the official exchange rate set by the National Bank of Kazakhstan for August 7 is 536.58 tenge per dollar.

According to kurs.kz, the average dollar buying rate in Almaty exchange offices is 538.40 tenge, while the average selling rate is 540.49 tenge. In Astana, exchange offices are buying US dollars at an average of 537.53 tenge and selling at 544.53 tenge.

It is worth noting that on July 31, First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar shared a forecast for the dollar exchange rate in Kazakhstan:

"Our forecast — mine and that of my colleagues — is that the dollar rate will roll back. It won't remain this high. We've seen this many times before, when the rate eventually stabilized. I believe the National Bank will take the necessary measures, and the market will adjust accordingly," he said during a government briefing.
