US dollar exchange rate exceeds 542 tenge

Tengrinews.kz - The U.S. dollar exchange rate in Kazakhstan as of August 11.

By the end of the daytime trading session on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), the weighted average exchange rate of the U.S. dollar stood at 542.66 tenge, up 2.85 tenge. The official exchange rate set by the National Bank for August 11 is 539.49 tenge per dollar.

According to kurs.kz, the current average buying rate for the dollar at exchange offices in Almaty is 542.12 tenge, while the selling rate is 544.20 tenge. In Astana, exchange offices are buying the U.S. currency at an average of 540.52 tenge and selling it for 547.52 tenge.

On July 31, First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar shared a forecast for the dollar exchange rate in Kazakhstan:

"Our forecast — mine and that of my colleagues — is that the dollar rate will roll back. It won't remain this high. We've seen this many times before, when the rate eventually stabilized. I believe the National Bank will take the necessary measures, and the market will adjust accordingly," he said during a government briefing.
