UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres praises Kazakhstan's role in global peace initiatives

Astana, Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to the Akorda Residence for discussions centered on strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United Nations.

Astana, Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to the Akorda Residence for discussions centered on strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United Nations.

President Tokayev thanked Guterres for accepting the invitation to visit Astana and participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

"Your visit is a testament to the strong cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UN. It underscores our active engagement with the UN's initiatives," said President Tokayev.

Antonio Guterres described his visit as a gesture of solidarity and support from the UN towards Kazakhstan and its chairmanship of the SCO.

"Astana has always been a platform for peace, Kazakhstan has enormous moral standing. Your country is the leader in nuclear disarmament, showing its commitment to peace in many other spheres," said the UN Secretary-General.

The leaders also discussed enhancing regional cooperation in Central Asia. The UN Secretary-General praised economic integration efforts in the region and highlighted its immense potential in addressing global challenges.
