Tengrinews.kz - The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has adopted a resolution to establish a regional UN center for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Almaty, aimed at supporting Central Asia and Afghanistan.

The news was shared by Ruslan Zheldibay, adviser and press secretary to the President of Kazakhstan, on his Telegram channel.

According to Zheldibay, the resolution was co-authored by 152 countries and was adopted by consensus, marking a significant foreign policy achievement for Kazakhstan.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to partner states for backing Kazakhstan’s initiative. He believes the regional UN hub will serve as a key platform for coordinating international efforts in the region.

Currently, Kazakhstan hosts over 20 UN agencies operating across various sectors.
