Tengrinews.kz – The President of Kazakhstan received the Chairman of the Board of the national company KazMunayGas, Askhat Khasenov. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was presented with a report on the company’s performance results for the first seven months of 2025, according to Akorda.
Askhat Khasenov reported that KazMunayGas is carrying out active geological exploration. In 2025, within the framework of additional exploration of existing fields, 7 wells are planned to be drilled, of which 3 have already been completed. For the first time, the Chinese company CNOOC is investing in geological exploration in Kazakhstan, and Sinopec is also entering the country with large investments. Multinational companies Shell, Chevron, and British Petroleum are actively studying sites in the Atyrau, Aktobe, and Mangystau regions.
It was reported to the President that in the first seven months of this year, the volume of oil and condensate production reached 15.3 million tons, exceeding the figure for the same period in 2024 by 9 percent. The production of natural and associated gas reached 6.7 billion cubic meters, 19 percent higher than last year. Projects are being implemented to increase gas processing at the Western Prorva (Atyrau region), Urikhtau (Aktobe region), and Rozhkovskoye (West Kazakhstan region).
The Head of State was informed that the volume of oil transportation amounted to 49 million tons. Work is underway to develop additional routes: in seven months, 0.9 million tons of oil were supplied to Azerbaijan, 1.1 million tons to Germany, and the first shipment of 85,000 tons of Kazakh oil was delivered to Hungary.
At domestic oil refineries, 10.4 million tons of oil were processed in the first seven months of 2025. The production of light petroleum products amounted to 7.8 million tons, achieving a record increase of 936,000 tons.
Askhat Khasenov also reported that in the Mangystau region, the first supply of desalinated seawater from the new Kenderli plant was delivered to the water distribution hub of Zhanaozen. Construction of a 247 MW hybrid power plant is ongoing. Full-scale construction has begun on a $7.4 billion polyethylene plant with an annual capacity of 1.25 million tons.
