Tengrinews.kz - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov took part in the meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in Bishkek, according to Akorda.
In his remarks, Tokayev expressed gratitude to his Kyrgyz counterpart for the invitation, stressing that the purpose of his official visit was to strengthen Kazakh-Kyrgyz ties and expand mutually beneficial cooperation.

He highlighted that political dialogue at the highest level is bringing bilateral relations to a qualitatively new stage.
“Kazakhs and Kyrgyz are fraternal peoples united by common history and destiny. Our countries have always supported each other in both difficult and joyful times. This friendship, tested by time, is a spiritual heritage passed down from our ancestors. Today, relations between our peoples have grown into an unbreakable partnership based on mutual trust and respect. Kyrgyzstan is one of Kazakhstan’s key strategic partners in the region. Bilateral trade has reached nearly $2 billion, and there is potential to further increase this figure,” Tokayev said.
He also pointed out growing cooperation in investment, water and energy, as well as cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Tokayev recalled the signing of a historic Treaty on Deepening and Expanding Allied Relations last year and announced the adoption of a Comprehensive Cooperation Plan during the current meeting.

Japarov, in turn, emphasized Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Kazakhstan in the spirit of friendship and brotherhood.
“Kazakhstan is our closest neighbor, a fraternal country with a special place in Kyrgyzstan’s foreign policy. Thanks to your personal support, Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich, strategic partnership and allied relations between our states are steadily developing. For centuries, our peoples lived in harmony, supporting each other. In this regard, I am deeply convinced that based on these traditions of friendship we can resolve any issues together. Kyrgyz and Kazakhs are twin nations. As the great Abai said: ‘No Kazakh will doubt the common origin of Kyrgyz and Kazakhs,’” Japarov stated.
The agenda of the Supreme Interstate Council included cooperation in trade and economy, transport and transit, water and energy, as well as cultural and humanitarian fields.
