Tengrinews.kz - A new candidate has been nominated for the position of US Ambassador to Kazakhstan.
According to a statement from the White House, President Donald Trump has recommended Julie Stufft, of Ohio, for the role of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Her nomination has been submitted to the US Senate for confirmation.
Julie Stufft is a member of the Senior Foreign Service and most recently served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Visa Services in the Bureau of Consular Affairs at the Department of State. Over her career, she has held diplomatic posts in Russia, Poland, Ethiopia, Moldova, and Djibouti, and has worked on the US National Security Council, where she coordinated protective measures for US citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ambassadorship to Kazakhstan became vacant after Daniel Rosenblum announced his retirement in December 2024, stepping down after nearly 28 years of service in the US State Department.
