Tengrinews.kz - A tourist was rescued in the mountains near Almaty 16 hours after being left behind by her group.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), on November 3, a group of five tourists was hiking in the Kaskelen Gorge in the Zailiyskiy Alatau range when one of the hikers began to feel unwell. The group included an elderly woman and children, so the leader made the decision to leave the woman temporarily in order to bring the others to safety and call MES rescuers for assistance.

Rescue teams from the Republican Operational-Rescue Squad of MES located the group at a parking area and began searching for the stranded tourist using the provided coordinates. The search lasted more than 16 hours, after which rescuers provided her with first aid for hypothermia and escorted her to waiting relatives at the parking area.
