Tokayev: We will always remain true to Abai’s legacy

Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated the people of Kazakhstan on the 180th anniversary of Abai Qunanbaiuly, citing Akorda.

“Abai is a figure of global significance — a great poet who made an invaluable contribution to the development of culture and the renewal of our national consciousness. As the founder of modern Kazakh literature, he broadened the horizons of our worldview,” Tokayev said.

He noted that the poet urged young people to be educated, hardworking, and responsible citizens.

“His ideas still play a role in shaping the new quality of our nation, and his life stands as an example of love for the Motherland and selfless service to society. The rich legacy of Hakim Abai has become a spiritual guide not only for the Kazakh people, but for all humanity. His thoughts and teachings will never lose their relevance. That is why it is so important to study and promote Abai’s work, delving into the deep meaning of his writings. This is also the purpose of today’s event, held on sacred land that, along with Abai, gave the world such great sons as Shakarim Qudaiberdiuly, and Mukhtar Auezov,” Tokayev said.

The president added that the state places great importance on developing this region as a center of national culture.

“Abai’s immortal poetry and wise Words of Edification will undoubtedly serve as spiritual nourishment for many generations to come. We will always remain true to the legacy of the great Abai!” Tokayev emphasized.
