Tengrinews.kz – During a meeting with the public in Shymkent, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev commented on the instability of international markets, according to Akorda.
“The global situation is being complicated by the threat of a global trade war, the consequences of which will inevitably affect all countries. We welcome President Trump's decision to declare a 90-day moratorium to start negotiations. Experts warn that reciprocal tariffs could trigger an economic downturn and destroy the system of international trade, even posing a risk of armed conflicts. Despite a temporary stabilization following the tariff delay, markets remain highly tense. The world is shifting toward a policy of harsh tariff confrontation, which could lead to a deep global economic crisis. Kazakhstan, despite the risks, will not deviate from its modernization course and will continue to implement large-scale infrastructure and social projects,” Tokayev stated.
According to the President, it is essential to adapt as much as possible to the global situation, carefully consider every step, and make well-balanced decisions. Protecting the national economy from various challenges is of key importance.
“The government must address key issues in advance and act decisively and effectively. Despite difficulties, Kazakhstan's GDP grew by 5.8% from January to March, mainly due to transport, construction, industry, and trade. If necessary, we can use resources from the National Fund and reserves. I am confident that business will show responsibility and initiative. Now it is time to act, not talk — with unity and full dedication,” he emphasized.
