Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with the heads of parliaments of the member states of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TurkPA), according to Akorda.

Tokayev informed the participants about the main directions of Kazakhstan’s economic reforms.

“In 2024, our country’s GDP reached 290 billion dollars, and per capita it amounted to 14,000 dollars. However, we still face many challenges, and a number of concrete measures are being taken to address them. Major infrastructure projects, large-scale digitalization, the introduction of artificial intelligence, comprehensive support for agriculture, and the development of the transport and logistics sector are actively underway. This year, we expect the economy to grow by more than 5 percent. Strengthening effective cooperation with Turkic countries is crucial for achieving these goals,” the Head of State emphasized.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed full support for the initiative to hold a TurkPA session in Astana under the theme "TURKTIME: the role of parliamentary diplomacy." He stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in light of current global challenges.

“Kazakhstan attaches special importance to interparliamentary ties among fraternal countries and public diplomacy. It is clear that the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States is a respected international organization and a unique platform for deepening our cooperation. Your joint work within the organization is of great significance,” he noted.

In conclusion, the President stated that the meeting clearly demonstrated the unity of purpose and the importance of maintaining and strengthening solidarity among Turkic countries.

“Kazakhstan fully supports the parliamentary diplomacy of Turkic states. In unity, we will overcome these turbulent times and give a strong boost to the development of our economies,” summarized Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Speakers of the parliaments of the TurkPA member countries took part in the event.
