Tengrinews.kz - The government must ensure total savings and spend them only on solving the most pressing problems, said President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
"I have already announced specific areas of reform and approaches to their implementation. The government will have to make difficult decisions and, most importantly, implement them in order to prevent economic stagnation and ensure its sustainable development. This task is within the power of civil servants who are highly qualified and ready to take responsibility," Tokayev said at an expanded government meeting on January 28.
According to the Head of State, world experience shows that the effectiveness of the state apparatus is largely manifested in such difficult situations.
"No matter how difficult it is, the government must ensure total savings and spend them only on solving the most pressing problems. It's time to tighten our belts and live within our means," the President added.
An extended government meeting is taking place in Astana with the participation of the Head of State. Officials will review the country's socio-economic development results for 2024 and outline key priorities for the near future. Presentations will be given by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, National Bank Chairman Timur Suleimenov, and several regional akims (governors).
